It all began in a coffee shop… and Tim doesn't even like coffee!

But we’re getting ahead of ourselves. Before that, we first met at our Bible study, B-Crew, where we made great friends and had the opportunity to get to know each other. Yessica thought she was the only one who spoke Spanish but one Sunday after church, Tim had a surprise for her. He began to sing a Spanish song that Yessica had learned when she was 6 years old at Sunday school! How could Tim ever know this song?! There was many things that we both learned about each other.

Then on January 22, 2014 we met for coffee, not knowing that this would be the first of many dates. We were both impressed at how much fun we had talking and felt comfortable around each other. Then on March 8, 2014 we headed out to Big Sur for our first hike, sunset, and officially began our dating relationship. This was the first in a series of fun adventures featuring Yessica having a hard time finding north, and Tim wearing floppy hats while still trying to impress Yessica.

Our dates were filled with learning more about the Missions of California, hiking up and down hills, looking through the telescopes at Lick Observatory, being in awe of tall redwood trees at Big Basin. We enjoyed being amongst these giants and taking in the beauty, while we learned more about each other and fell in love.

Then on April 25, 2015, Tim decided to take Yessica on an aventura to Mission San Antonio Padua, then secretly would take Yessica back to Big Sur, to the place where it all began. Yessica had no clue that April 25 would be a memorable day. It was at sunset overlooking the Pacific Ocean that Tim asked Yessica the question that would change their relationship and be the start of a big adventure together. Tim was feeling excited and nervous as he was about to ask Yessica to marry him. He got on one knee and asked Yessica, “¿Quieres casarte conmigo?” (Will you marry me?) Yessica felt as if time had frozen and was surprised to see Tim on one knee, with a box and a white bow on it, and Tim asking her a question that made her heart beat faster...in Spanish! Yessica immediately knew the answer: “¡Sí!”

This is just the start to many more adventures together...we can't wait until September 12, 2015!

Todo empezó en un café, y ¡a Tim ni siquiera le gusta el café!

Pero, nos estamos anticipando. Antes de eso, nos conocimos en nuestro estudio bíblico, B-Crew, donde nos hicimos buenos amigos y tuvimos la oportunidad de conocernos. Yessica pensaba que era la única que hablaba español pero un domingo después de la iglesia, Tim le sorprendió. Empezó a cantar una canción en español que Yessica había aprendido a los seis años en la iglesia. ¿Cómo pudo haber Tim aprendido esta canción? Había muchas cosas que nos descubrimos del otro.

Entonces, el 22 de enero, 2014, nos reunimos para un café, sin saber que esta sería la primera de muchas citas. Nos quedamos impresionados de lo mucho que nos divertimos y nos sentíamos cómodos al hablar el uno con el otro. Después, el 8 de marzo, 2014, fuimos a Big Sur para una caminata. Esta fue la primera en una serie de aventuras divertidas en las cuales Yessica tenía problemas con encontrar al norte y Tim llevaba sombreros blandos mientras intentaba impresionarle a Yessica.

Nuestras citas se caracterizaban con el aprendizaje de las misiones de California, y de muchas caminatas por las colinas, además de observar el cielo a través de los telescopios del Observatorio Lick. También nos quedábamos asombrados por la grandeza de las secoyas grandísimas de Big Basin. Disfrutábamos de los árboles y de hablar en medio de la belleza, mientras aprendíamos más sobre el otro, y eventualmente nos enamorábamos.

El 25 de abril, 2015 Tim decidió llevarle a Yessica en una aventura a la Misión San Antonio Padua, y en secreto planeaba llevarle a Yessica a Big Sur otra vez, al lugar donde todo comenzó. Yessica no sospechaba que el 25 de abril sería un día tan memorable. Al llegar el ocaso, mientras los dos miraban el Océano Pacífico, Tim le echó a Yessica la pregunta que cambiaría la relación y sería el comienzo de la aventura más grande para los dos. Tim se sentía tan emocionado y nervioso mientras se preparaba para pedirle a Yessica que se casara con él. Por fin, se hincó en una rodilla y le dijo a Yessica en español, “¿Quieres casarte conmigo?” Yessica se sintió como si el tiempo se hubiera dejado de pasar y se sorprendió al ver a Tim hincándose en una rodilla con una caja y un lazo blanco arriba de la caja, y escucharle pedirle matrimonio. Su corazón empezó a latir más fuerte y rápido, ¡especialmente porque le hablaba en español! Yessica supo la respuesta inmediatamente: “¡Sí!”

Este es sólo el empiezo de muchas más aventuras juntos. ¡No podemos esperar hasta el 12 de septiembre, 2015!
